Dealerships or any salesman will more often than not put their worst deal on the table as a starting point. Whether you’re buying the car outright or buying on finance. They hope for the perfect gullible buyer to walk through their doors and just pay the asking price.
Don’t be one of them! Use their tactics back at them and haggle!
They’ll want a deposit to order the car, NEGOTIATE! Really they just need it as a temporary down payment till you sign the finance agreement, then they’ve got you anyway… So why not push the limits a bit, what’s the worst that can happen?
If they hesitate and say they’ll need to run it passed their manager, this is where you need to stick to your guns. The first time he returns, hesitate; remind them how much you want the car, but that you were really hoping for your price. Let him go back to the manager and try again. You may not get exactly what you’re looking for. But you’ll more often than not get a better deal than the first one he put on the table!
