Many breakdown providers offer substantial discounts for additional cars that are added to the policy or they will offer to cover you as a driver or passenger n any vehicle that you are in.

Some companies call this cover personal cover and it can often be added to your annual policy for as little as £30 per year. If taking out this option be sure to read all the terms and conditions as some breakdown companies will only cover cars that are below a certain age or mileage and that fit certain criteria.

Don’t forget to shop around for the best price and if you have been with a company for a while and not had to call them out then ring them to see if they can beat another quote you have been offered elsewhere. Unlike car insurance, a breakdown cover is not mandatory in this country, but without it, you may find yourself having to fork out hundreds of pounds in recovery costs just to get your vehicle home.
