When buying second hand cars you always have the worry as to if they are going to have any problems or if they have been looked after. Many people say reliability is one of the top things on their list when it comes to choosing a car but yet many of us simply do not do the research.
All cars are individual so two cars that are the same make and model can develop different problems over time but some manufactures are known for their reliability whereas other are the opposite. German and Japanese cars often rank high when it comes to reliability. This is sometimes because rather than bringing out new technology all the time, they often spend time and money improving the original ones, meaning they get to know what works and what doesn’t. Examples of these manufactures would be Volkswagen, Audi, Honda and Toyota. Honda are currently top of the reliability tables followed closely by Toyota.
For a car to be reliable it also needs to have been looked after i.e serviced when it needed to be and had work done to a high standard when repairs were needed.
