If you have an increasing family it may be time to look at getting a more suitable car to suit your needs but with so many cars being branded as ‘family cars’ it can be hard to know what to go for so here’s a breakdown of some of the most popular choices.
MPV – this stands for Multi-Purpose Vehicle and includes cars that we’d often refer to as people carriers. These are great if you have more than 3 children as they often come as 7 seaters and so have plenty of room for all the family.
SUV – this stands for Sports Utility Vehicle and generally covers 4×4 style cars that are used on standard roads. For example the Range Rover Sport, these cars do tend to be a little bit like swatting a fly with a sledge hammer (rather unnecessary!) and can be very costly to run.
Estate – these cars are great if you need that extra boot space, either for a family pet or for the kid’s bikes. You’ll need to make sure that it’s not underpowered though as the car needs to be capable of being full without struggling on the roads.
